“Millie is a former street cat from Romania. One day, after wandering onto a pigeon farm to hunt, the farmer sent his dogs after her. That is why part of her ear is missing. The farmer kept her locked in a cage for an unknown amount of time, intending to eventually feed her to his dogs. It turns out she was pregnant, and during her captivity, she gave birth to dead kittens because she was so malnourished. Luckily, a woman from the village heard about Millie’s situation and offered to pay the farmer for her rescue. She eventually ended up at the Strays Meet Holland rescue and was brought to the Netherlands.

My flatmates and I like to call her “Queen Millie” because she’s so particular about her likes and dislikes. For example, she has favorite toys, and she absolutely will not eat cheap food. It’s been so funny watching her come out of her shell. With her being my first cat, she has successfully turned me into a cat person and has made a huge impact on my friends’ lives as well. Even though she had such a rough start in life, it hasn’t broken her trust and love for people, teaching me to always see the best in situations.”
